Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS EXTRACTION CLEANING?
A cleaning agent is sprayed under pressure onto a surface to be cleaned and then (or simultaneously) vacuuming the resulting dirty water. By spraying under pressure the cleaning agent (shampoo or steam) gets deep into the pile of carpets and helps dislodge dirt.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TRUCK-MOUNT STEAM EXTRACTION AND THE DO-IT-YOURSELF RENTAL CARPET CLEANING MACHINES?
Professional truck mounts have more power and deter re-soiling for a longer period of time. Do-it-yourself machines can over wet the carpet and leave high amounts of detergent behind.
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO HAVE MY CARPETS PROFESSIONALLY CLEANED?
You should have all your carpeting cleaned at least once a year. Depending on your particular lifestyle (lots of entertaining, active children, pets, etc.) heavy traffic areas should be cleaned every 6-8 months. Tracked-in dirt and soil gets deep into carpet and upholstery fibers. There it begins to act like sandpaper, causing wear and unsightly traffic areas. Topical cleaning only removes loose soil from the top third of fibers. Our extraction cleaning process loosens and lifts ground-in dirt and soil, removing deep dirt in carpet and upholstery fibers.

WHAT DO I DO ABOUT PET STAINS / ODORS?
Pet stains and odors are best handled by a professional cleaner and restorer. Attempting to remove them yourself can result in a permanent stain and/or odor.
HOW LONG WILL MY CARPET TAKE TO DRY?
Drying time depends on some variables such as the thickness of pile and fibers, the weather conditions and the air circulation in your home. To help your carpet dry faster ñ turn your thermostat up during the cold season, or turn on your air conditioner or open windows during the warm season. Turning on ceiling fans will also help your carpet dry faster. Most carpeting is dry within 4 ñ 8 hours.
WHAT CAN I DO TO PREPARE FOR YOUR ARRIVAL?
A tidy, uncluttered area allows us to complete the job more efficiently and in good time which in turn saves you money. Please, clear away, where possible small items such as plants and light furnishings, children's and pet's toys, etc. You don't need to move heavy items of furniture. We carefully move all reasonable furniture and put it back in place. However, we do ask that you remove all breakables such as lamps, knick-knacks, photo frames and ashtrays.
CAN I WALK ON MY CARPET RIGHT AFTER IT'S BEEN CLEANED?
Yes, but use caution when going from damp carpeting onto non-carpeted areas as the non-carpeted area may feel very slippery.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO CLEAN MY CARPETS?
While it depends on so many factors, primarily the amount of carpet, we can indicate over the phone how long the job will take. In the case of a typical 3 bedroom house, you should allow around 2.5-3 hours for all the carpets to be cleaned.
WILL I HAVE TO WAIT IN ALL DAY FOR YOUR CLEANER TO SHOW UP?
No - we give specific one-hour slots in which we aim to arrive. We are nearly always on time, but sometimes (particularly towards the end of the day) we might be a little late. But we will always call you well in advance to let you know our revised estimated arrival time.
